# Crypto Mode Overview

Crypto Mode is the Neurolab application's Web3 layer, providing a further value-add for DeSci and traditional science researchers and community members who want to connect Neurolab's evidence-aware research workflow with onchain identity, scientific coordination, and future funding pathways.

## One product, two optional choices

The two sides of the experience are independent:

* A researcher can use Neurolab to investigate compounds, inspect forecasts and evidence, and plan follow-up work without using any onchain feature.
* A researcher who wants to explore decentralized-science funding can choose to connect eligible research outputs with community discovery and potential Intellectual Property Token (IPT) pathways.
* A community member can follow and help prioritize emerging research without changing the scientific evidence contained in a report.

The scientific value of a Neurolab report comes from its models, evidence, provenance, and research workflow—not from whether a wallet is connected.

## What Crypto Mode adds

Crypto Mode brings together three developing ideas:

1. **Wallet-aware access:** optional read-only identity context on supported networks.
2. **`$NDT` coordination:** a token model intended to help a scientific community surface and prioritize promising research directions.
3. **Neurolab: Commons:** a planned in-application environment for discovery, discussion, prioritization, and embedded governance around potential research opportunities.

These layers must preserve Neurolab's evidence boundaries. A vote, token balance, or community signal does not validate a mechanism, change a model score, or replace scientific review.
